12/04/12 Class Notes
By David Sunfellow

This week’s class began with a few minutes of silence. Then I shared the following news and updates…

……………….

December Schedule

In December we will be focusing exclusively on NDEs. No dream classes. You can download a December calendar (pdf) by clicking here.

Class Mailing List

I have created a special mailing list for people interested in our local classes. To be included on this list, send an email message to david.sunfellow@gmail.com and ask to be included on NHNE’s NDE Mailing List. Members of this list will be notified of upcoming classes, presentations, and special Sedona events. I will also let the folks on this list know when new content has been added to this website.

FREE Online Seminar with NDE Researcher Raymond Moody

On December 9th, there will be a FREE online class featuring NDE researcher Raymond Moody. Sponsored by “The Original Afterlife Awareness Conference”, this is a rare opportunity to communicate with the man who coined the term “near-death experience.” He is the father of afterlife research and paved the way for the work that is being done today. He is the author of the groundbreaking book “Life After Life” and numerous other books on the afterlife and near-death experience. For more information, go here.

Wayne Dyer Interviews NDEr Anita Moorjani

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdD_V3n0-FM

Many of you know that Wayne Dwyer played an instrumental role in helping Anita Moorjani publish her book, “Dying To Be Me.” In this video clip, Wayne invites Anita to share a little bit about her dramatic near-death experience with his audience. Anita’s portion of the video begins at about 55:35 and runs until 1:04:21.

NDEr Alon Anava

After the news and updates, we began playing Alon Anava’s video from a few minutes before where we had left off in the previous class. We had planned to finish watching Alon’s video during this class, but ended up stopping so many times to discuss what Alon shared, that we didn’t finish. Some of the topics we discussed included:

How “love” is not mentioned one time in Alon’s one hour and 40 minute story;

How when we tap into earlier, Old Testament-like stages of development, we may experience God and the higher realms as expressions of information, rules, order, commandments, rituals, and forces that encourage purity and correct conduct.

How more developed stages of development, which tap into deeper, more full blown aspects of God’s nature, appear to incorporate a more universal, more unconditionally loving, and often more personal God (and related beings and realms).

How Alon’s experience has important messages for us today. If we are going to become great at anything, we have to first learn the basics. Before a nurse, doctor, athlete, musician, artist, writer, carpenter, parent, whatever, can become truly great at their calling, they must first learn and master the fundamentals. Have we learned the basics of living a good life? Of being devoted to God? Of caring for others? Of serving a higher purpose?

How intense spiritual revelations and the pleasurable experiences that come from direct connections with God can only be held, owned, and maintained by building a vessel, through one’s actions on Earth, that can support them.

How “destructive angels” and hellish experiences are self-created.

How many hellish or distressing experiences arise out of people being overly attached to current frames of reverence and/or fearful of the unknown. When they find themselves out of their bodies, for example, they might panic because they don’t understand what is happening to them. And their panic turns what would otherwise be a pleasure experience into one of trauma and distress.

How we are called to integrate, within ourselves, two seemingly contradictory truths: the idea that everyone is perfect, doing the best they can with whatever circumstances they find themselves while, at the same time, everyone is also imperfect, full of human weaknesses and frailties that need to be seen, acknowledged and mastered. We discussed this topic at length in earlier classes (look for classes that discussed “The Light & The Life Review”).

Finally, I reminded everyone that we don’t yet possess the faculties we need to fully understand the topics we are discussing. Trying to understand does, however, help transform us from the chimpanzees that Eben Alexander mentions in his book “Proof of Heaven” into the higher, more evolved beings we all aspire to be:

“I had a foretaste of another, larger kind of knowledge: one I believe human beings will be able to access in ever larger numbers in the future. But conveying that knowledge now is rather like a chimpanzee, becoming human for a single day to experience all of the wonders of human knowledge, and then returning to one’s chimp friends and trying to tell them what it was like knowing several different Romance languages, the calculus, and the immense scale of the universe.” — Page 82, 83

In this class, we listened to Alon’s presentation from 40:00 to 1:05:31. We’ll watch the third and final portion of Alon’s video next Tuesday.

Future Classes

Our next NDE class will take place Tuesday, December 11th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at St. Andrew’s (see below for directions). We will watch and discuss the third and final part of Alon’s video. See you there!

A Newly Emerging Spiritual Path

Unlike spiritual paths that arose from the ideas and inner experiences of lone, isolated human beings, the path presented by near-death experiences is emerging as a direct, grassroots revelation that millions of people from all over the world are receiving and sharing. If we explore this newly emerging path deeply enough, we discover that all religions, philosophies, and cultures are honored; that science and spirituality are celebrated; that both the human and spiritual side of our natures are cherished and embraced. In short, near-death experiences present us with a universal, all-inclusive, perfectly integrated spiritual path that revolves around three core truths: 1. We are all one; 2. Love is the essence of life; 3. We are here, in this world, to become perfect embodiments of the divine.
